We worked with English Language Arts specialists to design an art curriculum topically aligned to EL Education & Bookworms – popular, free, literacy curricula. This art curriculum is specifically designed to build knowledge around the ELA topics, and provides supplemental materials support literacy learning outcomes. Each grade, 1st-5th, is connected to two projects.

Grade 1:

  • Topic 1: Sun/Moon/Stars
  • Topic 2: Birds

Grade 2:

  • Topic 1: Schools & Community
  • Topic 2: Pollination

Grade 3:

  • Topic 1: Embracing Challenges
  • Topic 2: Water

Grade 4:

  • Topic 1: Animal Defense Mechanisms
  • Topic 2: Poetry

Grade 5:

  • Topic 1: Human Rights
  • Topic 2: Rainforest

This art curriculum is ideal for the teacher (classroom teacher OR art teacher) who wants to teach content that deepens student understanding and engagement around the topics they are learning in ELA.

This curriculum has lesson in both 2D & 3D media, which varies by grade.

What you get:

  • 2 projects (each containing 5-6 lessons for a total of 10-12 lessons depending on the speed of the class) exploring topics introduced in El Education or Bookworms curricula (note: these project can be used independent of the literacy curricula).
  • A scope and sequence which includes links to training and support pages
  • Links to downloadable and editable lesson plans (which can be used with or without the streaming videos)
  • Editable assessments for each project
  • A vocabulary list
  • Supplemental materials as determined by the project
