A Toy’s Story
Students depict where their toys go in their imagination.
LESSON 1
SW use cupcakes to learn the importance of close observation when drawing.
LESSON 2
SW create tiny sculptures out of found materials. They will draw these during lesson two.
LESSON 3
SW use their sculpture from Lesson 1 as a still life, looking carefully at the details that make it unique as they draw it on oversized paper.

Vivi, 4th grade
Zeqe: “Stuffy Bakeshop” These are three of my stuffed animals in a bakery. Theres a photo of it on the counter when the building was new. It is very old fashioned. I think the wood parts are neat because on parts of it I put red under the brown to make it pop out.

“Fairy Tale Fabulous” Basically it is three levels. It is supposed to be like one town that is a sanctuary for lost stuffed animals. On the second level is the Fairy Forest where the fairies lives and that is where me and my crush are watching from. The Third level is the fairy land and stuffed animal city where my unicorn and bear ran away from because an evil genius in the third lighting bolt building tried to capture them and steal their magic. And at night there are always two moons.
Phoebe, 5th grade
Phoebe: “Lioness in the Future” My stuffed animal Lioness is going up the levitating passageway to get to the entrance of her futuresque abode. She lives in a house made out of flexiglass and most of the colors I used were blue and if I didn’t use blue I mixed blue with other colors. Most of it is green and greenish blue and bluish purple, plus a little tan for Lioness.
Mara, 3rd grade
Mara: “Sea Columns” As you have noticed I have done different colors and patterns and two different colors of blue and it is like columns. Also as you notice I’ve put in a treasure chest. I put it there because I had a treasure chest that I found at the beach. And I used unique colors and cool patterns. I think the background is all yellow because I wanted to mix it up a little bit an make it unusual and fun. I used a lot of colors but the most colors that I liked in the piece were the blue and the pink and the yellow.
Alyssa, 1st grade
Alyssa: “To Have Fun” This is my aunties house and my auntie has two dogs and two horses and she has one cat and she has three birds and she has a fence in front of her house. It is always sunny there. Me and my auntie always go to the waterfall to watch the horses have fun in the water. Sometimes the dogs find rocks and bring them over to me and sometimes they almost drop it on my toe. My aunts first dog her name is Cona and her second dog is named lady. The horses are named Thunderbolt and Star. The parrots name is Polly and the second parrots name is Johnny and the third parrot is named Jaxie. The cat is named Sally. I used pink, red, blue, yellow, black, dark pink, green, bro, light green and red and purple.
