Anthropomorphic Animals

Students choose an animal, draw it realistically from photographs, and then use the background to show what human traits the animal has come to represent.

LESSON 1

SW use cupcakes to learn the importance of close observation when drawing.

LESSON 2

SW create tiny sculptures out of found materials. They will draw these during lesson two.

LESSON 3

SW use their sculpture from Lesson 1 as a still life, looking carefully at the details that make it unique as they draw it on oversized paper.

LESSON 4

SW add any additional details they want on their drawing, then finish it with paint. They will have at least 2 sessions to paint.
