What personal data we collect and why we collect it

Media

If you send us a photo through our upload forms or by email, please note that by doing so you are granting permission to use said photo in any and all of our publications, including web-based publications, and social media, without payment or other consideration.

By uploading a photo, you irrevocably authorize Doodles Academy to edit, alter, copy, exhibit, publish, or distribute these photos for any lawful purpose. In addition, you waive any right to inspect or approve the finished product wherein your photo appears. Additionally, you waive any right to royalties or other compensation arising or related to the use of the photo.

Email

You may receive two types of emails from us:

  1. The first type is when you register on our website, enroll in a project, or trigger an email as you work your way through a project. These are one-time emails, and are sent to the email you set your account up with. By using our content, you agree to receive these emails, as they are an integrated part of the course, and give helpful overviews, and teaching suggestions. However, they do not mean that you are on any kind of list, and you will only receive them when you trigger them. If you stop using our content, you will stop receiving these types of emails.
  2. The second type are the weekly-ish emails that we send out to our email list. If you have enrolled on our website or in a project, you are automatically subscribed to our email list. These emails tell you when new projects are loaded on our website, and make project suggestions. You can easily opt out of these and still use the content on our website. You can unsubscribe from the emails by scrolling down to the footer of any email you receive and hitting ‘unsubscribe’.

Embedded content from other websites

Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.

These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.

How long we retain your data

For users that register on our website we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time. Website administrators can also see and edit that information.

Who we share your data with

We will use some of the data you provide to analyze our impact, for example, calculating how many students we have reached with our lessons, or the completion rate of projects on our website. We may share numbers on funding applications or with our current donors, but will always make sure these numbers are shared anonymously.
