Description

Students work through a series of prompts designed to help them understand the different ways that artists experience and record personal experiences. As they work through these prompts, they study art created by artists around the globe who were working in isolation (physically, psychologically, or both) for reasons ranging from imprisonment to immigration to illness.

The series ends with students looking at a diverse range of ‘portraits’ and being challenged to create a portrait (self or family) that reflects their personal experience of this particular point in time. They are invited to use whatever materials they wish, including found materials.
